A cluttered home can leave people feeling “boxed in” and even
embarrassed by the clutter. 42% of the survey respondents said they felt
anxious or depressed about the amount of clutter in their home, whilst
29% said that clutter stops them enjoying their time at home.
So what are the options? Looking for a larger home is a popular but
often costly and time-consuming option. De-cluttering can be the answer
but many have a sentimental attachment to items, or the “clutter” itself
is valuable; though only used seasonally or occasionally like heaters
and fans, suitcases, Christmas decorations and out-of-season clothes for
example.
Attic Living is one company that has been helping Australian families
de-clutter their living spaces for over 30 years. They have installed
over 20,000 Attic Ladders which allow families to unlock their roof
space.
Founder and CEO, John Stewart says, “Most people are surprised when I
tell them that up to 30% of the space in your home can be in the attic.
Depending on the type of house, size of attic and your budget, Attic
Living can create a basic storage solution right through to an attic
conversion to give you an extra room or two.”
A very popular trend is to build a “Dust-proof room” in the attic space
accessed via and Attic Ladder. It’s a clean storage solution which means
you can keep all your valuable items like clothes, musical instruments,
sports equipments and tax records in your attic without risk of them
being ruined by dirt and moisture.
“For a clean storage solution you should allow a budget of around $5,000
to $12,000 depending on the size of your attic, insulation and
ventilation options. It only takes around 3-4 days to complete but adds
significant storage space within your home.” adds John. “With the attic
ladder access you can put your items out of the way, but still access
them quickly, easily and safety whenever you need to”.
